§ 59. Recorder and councilmen as justices of the peace.

  • The recorder and the councilmen shall, to all intents and purposes, be a justice of the peace, so far as to enable them to issue warrants for offenses committed in the City of Moultrie, and they shall have the right to commit to the jail of Colquitt County, or admit to bail (provided the offense be bailable) for any violation of the state laws. The jailer of Colquitt County is hereby required to receive all such persons so delivered to him by said authorities, and keep them as he does other persons committed to him.
